    Hi Pippin,

Does this plugin support themes that use Child Themes (http://codex.wordpress.org/Child_Themes)? I use a theme called Platform Pro, made by Pagelines. It is possible to install this theme standing alone, and when I do your plugin works fine. But in order to have any substantial ability to custom code this theme it needs to be set up with in a Parent/Child theme configuration. When I have that going, and I set up custom post types or taxonomies I get error messages at the top of every page, both on my site and in my dashboard that look like this:

Warning: copy(/homepages/22/d334612527/htdocs/Sites/BestKidIpadApps/wp-content/themes/platformbase/index.php) [function.copy]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /homepages/22/d334612527/htdocs/Sites/BestKidIpadApps/wp-content/plugins/easy-content-types/includes/register-post-types.php on line 79

Any idea what would cause this, or how it can be fixed? It seems that the problem is directly related to having a child theme activated, since it works otherwise. But the Custom Post Types UI plugin works fine for creating custom posts, even in my Parent/Child configuration. Your plugin seems more powerful, though, and I’d prefer to use it if possible.

  2. Jake, this problem is caused by the auto template creation script, which does not at this time work with child themes. To fix the error, go to Settings and turn off auto template creation. Disabling this feature will not affect how well you can use this plugin in any way.

Hello, great plugin. Create a custom type post, which will add several Metabox in the custom list type post, for example PRODUCTS, I only list title and date. You can set up to show me the other Metabox, for example, title, price, description?

  4. Jake says:

My custom posts created with Easy Content Types lose the category box. How can I bring it back?

  5. @Jake – there is a section in the documentation (Help page under the Content Types menu) that explains how to activate the default categories for custom post types.

    Hi Pippin,
If I purchase your plugin on codecanyon, how long will I get updates for your plugin? Or do I have to purchase them separately?
Have you got some kind of roadmap, so I know what I am buying into? I’m looking at several other similar plugins, so just would like to compare and know it will not be abandandoned in a years time….
    Ta,
    Sascha

  7. @Sascha – All updates are free after you have purchased. All update notifications are sent out over Twitter.

I don’t have a road map, but I do not plan to stop developing this plugin until it has become obsolete due to its features being added to the WordPress core.

Really nice and smart plugin, thanks and i hope to make more and more plugins

  9. I know every post type has its own pages if you make them, but at the moment when I create categories for the post types, and click on them the page it goes to is the loop through the index.php. I have tried category-’whatever’.php etc.. and non seem to work. What do I need to do to make a page for each post type category

    Thanks
    Jamie

  10. Figured it out sorry

  11. Sorry I’m being annoying today but now I’m running into a whole different issue.

It appears that your plugin does not play well with the shopp e-commerce plugin, I have contacted them and they said that your plugin might not be using wordpress standards and that is why they do not work together, then said I should use a different plugin, but I would rather keep your and get rid of theirs…

When I try and add an item into the cart it does not get added, but when your plugin is turn off it works fine. The error im getting is this

2011-08-29 17:16:50 – PHP WARNING: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() [Scripts.php, line 350]
    2011-08-29 17:17:02 – PHP WARNING: array_intersect() [function.array-intersect0]: Argument #1 is not an array [Scripts.php, line 349]

The script is in the shopp files

any ideas on how I can fix this?

the url to the site is
    http://stagelnx.iridiangroup.com/alsintheheartland/

I can give you wp-admin if you need it

  12. @Jamison – ECPT is using WordPress standards. I’ve never used the Shopp plugin, so it’s difficult to say what the issue is, but if you send me login info to my email, I’ll be more than happy to look around.

  13. Kyle Houston says:

By using this plugin could I create a restaurant menu that can be updated by the user?

    Kyle

  14. @Kyle, yes you could use it for that.

  15. Alex says:

    Hi Pippin,

First, I’ve watched your videos: amazing plug-in :)
Then, I think I’ve my answer but is it possible to use the same taxonomy for different custom post types?

    Regards,
    Alex

  16. @Alex – yes, you can apply a taxonomy to as many post types as you want

  17. Kyle says:

So I got the tweet that said there was an update for easy content types, but what do I do to get the download?

  18. @Kyle – The new version is available from your Downloads tab on Code Canyon.

  19. Adam says:

Pippin, the 2.3 update looks epic- when will that be available for download? I just pulled the latest version from Code Canyon and it is 2.2.3. Thanks!

  20. @Adam – The new version is still in the upload queue. I’d expect it to be live within 24 hours.
